About Chùa Quan Thánh Đế Quân

Completed in January 1999, Texas Guandi Temple is a witness to the faith and concerted efforts of the multiethnic community in Houston of Texas and accross the United States. The temple's mission is to serve Asians and other faithful, carry on and promote the traditional Oriental culture and values, and enhance mutual understandings, friendship, and common prosperity of the people around the world.

Worship of Guan Yu contains elements of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism; and Guan Yu is hornored as "Emperor Guan" by Confucians, "Saintly Emperor Guan" by Taotists, and "Sangharama Bodhisattva" by Buddists. General Guan Yu in the Three Kingdoms periord in ancient China has been widely enshrined to today for his loyalty, rigtheousness, and valor, so Texas Guandi Temple came forth in time to serve the increasing faithful population.
